A Little About Myself | |
Pros | Steel Frame - no problems - the only thing we never had problems with. |
Cons | Motors give out quickly
The wood frame weakens and splits easily
The screws and bolts snaps |
We have gone through two of these Pride GL358XL's, and we have had to have the dual motors replaced in each one several times. The wood frame is very disappointing (just plywood), and what's more disappointing is the hardware used to screw the steel frame to the wood. The hardware is very cheap and snaps very easily. Both chairs were good for about two years each before the bolts and screws just gave way, and once one bolt starts to break, the rest break quickly, and with both chairs we were literally left overnight without a chair for my husband, and now once again, he has to sleep in his wheelchair until we can get another lift chair here - causing edema and possible cellulites in his legs. We are going to try the PR-501L-26D by Golden Technologies (not another Pride product) as they advertise that the wood frame is made of solid maple hardwood and has double doweling at stress points. There is only about a $100 difference, but it sure sounds like it might be better quality.
I would not only not recommend the GL358XL to a friend, nor would I recommend it to my best enemy.
Sorry Pride, but you took me for a fool twice, shame on me.

A Little About Myself | Retired and Disabled |
Pros | Nice looking chair /heavy weight built. Solid chair. |
Cons | Chair should be sold as a 2 position chair, as it does not fit the contents above, at least the one I have. It does not recline like it says and foot stool does not dome out to support the legs. |
Service & Delivery | Was great service from the delivery man. |
I am usually not a complainer, sorry Pride. This time I am not happy...my old chair was a great chair from pride. My comments were mostly in Cons.

A Little About Myself | |
Pros | My husband is 6'1 and 417lbs. Size wise this chair is ok. The width and seat height are good. Fabric is ok. |
Cons | Being a large man's chair, for someone over 6' I think the foot rest extension is too short. His legs hang well off the end and the fabric color is much darker than portrayed on website. |
Service & Delivery | I paid the EXTRA fee to have the chair brought into our home....there was 1 delivery man who was physically unable to do get the chair up our 5 stairs and into our home so my handicapped husband had to go outside and help him lift it....VERY POOR!! When I contacted customer service they told me that Pride wouldn't do anything about it, i asked him to have someone from Pride contact me....that was almost a week ago and i have heard nothing! The customer service rep told me my husband should have documented on the delivery ticket what happened....WHY SHOULD HE??? I PAID EXTRA TO HAVE IT DONE CORRECTLY AND HE WASN'T AWARE HE HAD TO TELL ON THE DRIVER!!! The reason I am noting that I WOULD NOT recommend to a friend is because of the customer service! Lift chairs are a dime a dozen!!! |
I think you should either do away with your website or hire more than 1 person for customer service for website customers. Because I work the same hours he is in and I had a difficult time connecting with him and everyone else kept telling me I should have called to order....not use the website..THEN WHY HAVE IT????

A Little About Myself | 5'10" & 400 lbs. |
Pros | Just received this chair and on the first try I "melted" into its comfort. I'm not tall, but very heavy, and it handled me with no problem. Easy to assemble when reviewing the instructions. |
Cons | |
Service & Delivery | Delivery person was very nice and offered to unpack from the carton and carry inside (with out paying for the costly "white glove" delivery option. I'm sure that all delivery people are not this nice... just luck I guess!) |
I did not order the heat/massage option due to a delay in delivery but I wish I had.

A Little About Myself | Budget Shopper |
Pros | Works Smoothly, Sturdy, Comfortable |
Cons | |
With being unable to get out of a chair on my own, this lift chair gives me all the mobility I need to get into an almost upright position in order to stand with the help of my walker. Very well made. I'm really glad I made this investment.
